Fugiel Airbox System

The remote controlled air box is a complete integrated system capable of switching the rail yard air on and off to the brakes of a cut of rail cars for the purpose of quickly testing the integrity of the entire braking system.  The air box can be controlled by means of a secure radio frequency signal sent from a remote hand-held control box (i.e., the remote controller) as the brake inspector is examining the braking functionality of each car.  The remote’s range of control is up to two miles. As required, the inspector can also reduce the air pressure to the cars (normally by 20 psi) to determine if there is adequate margin in the braking performance of each car. The Savings of the Fugiel Air Box

The air box is an extremely useful device which will represent a considerable cost savings to your rail road in a variety of different ways:

  • Manpower: What normally would take the services of two brake inspectors to test the baking system of a cut of rail cars will now require the services of just one inspector.
  • Efficiency: The test methodology currently employed can be much more rapidly implemented by use of the air box, since setting and releasing brakes can be done from any location along the rail cut and as often as desired.
  • Accuracy: The measurements of yard and brake pressure are accomplished using computerized digital circuitry not subject to human error.
  • Versatility: Features can be readily modified since the system is software controlled.
  • Expandability: As will be explain, the system can be expanded to provide additional control of functions throughout the rail yard.
  • Reliability: All of the above features will serve to aid the rail line with a better product by quickly uncovering problems and verifying their solution with speed and accuracy.
